    When Does KWC Start
The Karaoke World Championships Australian Trials commence each year in February.

    Who Can Enter
The Karaoke World Championships Australian Trials are open to all Australian Citizens who are 18 years or older at the time of entry into the competition. Each entrant must be deemed an amateur performer as per the Conditions of Entry.

Previous winners who have competed in the National Australia Grand Final of the Karaoke World Championships for the past three years are not eligible to enter this year's competition. Previous KWC Australian Champions, i.e. those who have gone on to represent Australia, are also ineligible to enter.

For full clarification and further details regarding employees and family members of participating venues and karaoke operators entering KWC, please read the Conditions of Entry.

What is the definition of amateur
An amateur is defined as someone who hasn't earned more than $5000.00 in the specified twelve month period from either employment as a singer, a karaoke host or in vocal competition wins. They also do not have a recording contract nor a recording distribution agreement. For full clarification of entry details, please read the Conditions of Entry.

What if I am not an Australian Citizen
Entrants in the Karaoke World Championships must be citizens of the country they are representing, therefore, all eligible entrants need to enter in the country where they are a citizen. An Australian citizen is someone who was born in Australia or someone who has participated in a naturalisation ceremony and has a citizenship certificate. This does not include permanent residents.

The winner of the Karaoke World Championships Australian Trials will need to travel overseas on an Australian passport. Only Australian citizens can obtain an Australian passport.

If you are the citizen of another country and would like more information on your country's trials, please contact us with a little information about yourself, i.e. the country you are a citizen of, via our online query form and we'll point you in the right direction.

I am eligible - How can I enter
Just go to a participating venue on the night they are running a heat, see the karaoke compere and fill in an entry form to enter into that night's heat.

    Where Can I Enter
You can enter at any participating venue. This page is updated regularly throughout the competition so be sure to add it to your favourites and check back later for updates. If you would like to be notified when new venues are listed, please join our emailing list.

What Happens After I Win A Heat
All heat winners go through to a final at the venue where they entered the competition. Once you win a heat you can't enter KWC at another venue until your venue's trials are over, so we recommended that you go back to the venue where you won your heat throughout the rest of the competition. This not only shows your support of the venue and their karaoke show but you will definitely know when your venue final will be on. You also won't miss out on any other important information. While every effort is made to contact all finalists, you don't want to miss out because we couldn't get in touch with you.

What Happens After I Win A Venue Final
All venue final winners go through to their respective State Final and are only one step away from the Grand Final! State Finals are held mid year after all venues in that specified state area have completed their in house competitions. As a venue final winner, you should be given the contact details of your local state final co-ordinator. Please contact them as soon as possible to register your details and song choice/s for the State Final. Don't leave it until the last minute. If you have won a venue final and don't have the contact details for your state co-ordinator, please contact our Australian head office during office hours AEST on 07 5424 1888.

What Happens After I Win A State Final
All State Final winners will automatically become Grand Finalists! They will compete in the Australian National Grand Final for the top cash & prizes. As the State Final winner, you should be given the contact details of our national co-ordinator. If you haven't received these details, please contact our Australian head office during office hours AEST on 07 5424 1888.

What Happens After I Win The Grand Final
The winner of the Australian Grand Final will become Australia's representative at the international finals of the Karaoke World Championships! They will be required to travel overseas to compete against singers from all of the other participating countries where they will also have the opportunity to win further cash and prizes. The Australian Grand Final winner will need to have five (5) songs ready to perform at the international finals.

The winner of the Grand Final will need to be available to travel overseas to the host country on the dates specified during the promotion of the event in the year they have entered. Exact departure dates will be arranged after the announcement of the Australian winner.

The Australian winner will be required to make themselves available for any media activities.

Please read the Conditions of Entry for further clarification.

The Competition Has Finished At The Venue Where I Entered & I Didn't Win - Can I Re-enter The Competition At Another Venue?
You can re-enter the competition if you weren't successful in the venue final where you had originally entered and you are no longer in the competition.

Do I Need To Own A Passport To Enter The Karaoke World Championships
No. You don't need a passport to enter the competition, however, you must be prepared to organise and be eligible to travel on an Australian passport only if you are crowned the national Australian champion.

Do I Need To Have My Own Karaoke Discs To Enter?
No. You don't need your own karaoke discs to enter but it is worth considering owning your own karaoke discs at State & Grand Final level. If you have your own karaoke discs you will be guaranteed to have the right version of your songs. You want to have everything right! CDG & VCD are the most popular formats. Pro Burn discs are also accepted.

Why Can't I Use My MP3+G Track Or My Burnt Copy?
At the present time, piracy is a major issue for the karaoke industry. This genuinely affects livelihoods plus it has an impact on the development of new material. MP3+G material is currently not distinguishable as a genuine article with rightfully paid royalties and fees plus burning it to a disc is a violation of format shifting, therefore it cannot be accepted as a format at this stage. Computerised systems are also currently not always readily available. Burnt discs....need we say any more... If you love karaoke, by only using genuine articles you are helping to keep the industry alive.

All participating karaoke operators have the right to decline use of illegal formats.
